The Cycle Chic Zoo - Seat Covers

We're loving these animal themed seat covers for rainy days, designed by Tilo Ahmels in Switzerland. The website is in German [google translate is your friend] but we can see that the covers cost €10.

Really elegant, simplistic design. They have a string so that you can pull them tight and knot them under the saddle.

Moooo-ve over, sister. I'm cycling past.

Even the tin they come in is cool.


Seeing the seat covers reminded us of some similar products spotted in Copenhagen a couple of years back. What a lovely little bicycle accessory to personalise your bicycle and compliment your already funky saddle.

Swiss Style In More Ways Than One

A Swiss designer by the name of Thomas Neeser converts bicycles into design icons. He started his work as his diploma project from the Zürich University of Art and Design and now people bring their old bikes to him to have them morphed into something even more lovely, like the bicycle above featuring the Swiss model Zoe Scarlett.

Cycle Chic et l'Amour

We blogged about this over at Copenhagenize.com as a part of our Promoting Cycling Positively series. It's an official campaign from the city of Geneva to encourage people to cycle more, as well as walk and take the bus and the tram. It's a brilliant campaign and fits in rather well here at Cycle Chic.

There's two posters, a teaser and a payoff. The text on the left reads: "There is always a moment where you have to take the first step."

On the right it says: "By bicycle. On foot. By bus. By tram. A new step in [for] life"

It's wonderful because it shows cycling as a normal, stylish transport option and it doesn't focus on fearmongering. And there's even a lovely little video advert to go with it!

Cycle Chic Pour Homme - Dapperliciousness

Don't worry, the focus of this blog remains intact. We just thought we'd post a couple of cyclists of the male variety to highlight a bit of dapperliciousness.

This chap, above, is a poster child for individual style. Just the fact that he's riding one of the retro 10-speeds, with the curvy handlebars of my distant youth, is retro coolaliciousness. Then there's his clothes, cap and the coloured tape on the bike. What a sight.

And from outside the Hauptbahnhof in Zurich, ubiquity_zh on flickr snapped this dapper gentleman getting ready for the lovely bike lanes of Zurich.

Cycle Chic in Calgary & Geneva

Vic from The Lazy Randonneur blog sent us this great shot of Cycle Chic in Calgary, Canada.

Thanks, Vic. What a great photo of Cowtown Chic. We like Calgary. They have the legendary Danish-Canadian Club on 11th Ave. Some of the best Danish food outside of the Kingdom. You have to be a member, but that just means you have to meet a Dane [and get them to buy you lunch...]


Here's a little taste of Cycle Chic in Basel, Switzerland, by nchenga at Flickr. Basel is a great cycling city. Built on the steep banks of the Rhine it's more than hilly and yet 23% of all trips are made by bike, on a well-developed network of bike lanes. Just one of many cycling cities that disprove the "you only ride alot in Copenhagen 'cause it's flat..." myth.
